What are the different types of care on Sitters.com?

Sitters.com offers caregivers for child care, pet care, tutoring, senior care, and home care. There are several specialty areas in each of these care types.

Child Care
Babysitters typically provide child care on an occasional basis.

Nannies provide more continuous, routine child care. Nannies work either part-time or full-time and sometimes live with the families they care for. They often provide light housekeeping.

Au Pairs are typically young people from another country who provide child care and light housekeeping in exchange for room and board, pocket money, and the opportunity to live abroad.

Pet Care
Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers typically provide in-home pet care if the owner will be away for only a short period of time. For pets with separation anxiety and for extended absence of the pet owner, many pet sitters will keep the pet at their home. Pet sitters and dog walkers usually handle meals, exercise, walks, play, companionship, and cleanup. Most pet sitters are also happy to provide other services such as mail retrieval and light housekeeping.

Doggie Day Cares provide either drop-off or pick-up daytime services for pets while their owners are at work. The pets typically enjoy their day by playing with other dogs, playing with people, inside or outside, and getting loving attention. Types of Doggie Day Cares include in-home private day cares and staffed commercial Doggie Day Cares.

Kennels provide out-of-home long-term boarding for pets. Most kennels will work to reduce your pet’s stress by allowing blankets and toys from home. They provide meals, exercise, and typically offer one on one play time.

Tutoring
Tutors are private instructors that usually specialize in a specific educational subject or skill. Tutors list the subject areas that they can help with in their Sitters.com profile.

Senior Care
Companions provide companionship for seniors who are capable of independent living in their own home. Many companions perform household chores such as cooking and cleaning. Services are typically available for short or long term duration.

Caregivers provide in-home care for seniors who are not capable of independent living but who want to remain in their own homes. In addition to providing companionship, they usually handle everything from household chores to personal care such as bathing.

Respite Care Providers are typically used to provide time off for a primary caregiver or family member who cares for someone who is ill, injured or frail. Care can be provided in-home or in a variety of out of home settings.

Assisted Living Facilities provide care for seniors who need ongoing help with personal care and daily activities. Residents of assisted living facilities typically wish to retain their independence to the fullest extent that they can.

Nursing Homes, also known as Skilled Nursing Facilities, typically provide everything from 24-hour medical care to custodial care for seniors that require constant care. Residents may be there temporarily for a period of rehabilitation, or may be there for long-term care.

Hospice Nurses provide a compassionate approach to end-of-life care.

Home Care
Housekeepers provide a wide variety of domestic services for your home. These services can include cleaning, laundry, and sometimes cooking and errands.
